Davis Cook,is the CEO Research Institute for Innovation and Sustainability(RIIS),South Africa.Davis has a standard life history on LinkedIn, but that doesn’t say who he is. So instead, this is what matters to him – making choices (and sometimes mistakes) about how to create a better world through innovation, through solving problems that face people, humans, across his home and beyond. What is important is whether or not we choose – every day – to act in away that makes the future just a little better; better for ourselves, our families, our planet. Science is one way to do this; listening to people and understanding what is important to them is just as important.Being part of a group of people that helps to bring a new world to life is what drives Davis every day. Through his colleagues, clients and networks,he has been privileged to work across the world and learn about how dozens of industries work and impact on society – great and small. Africa remains home, however, and although he has lived internationally, he has never, in his heart, emigrated.A passion for life-long learning makes running RIIS easy – in fact, the best part about his job is the ability to interact with different people, and learn about the challenges they are going through. RIIS has grown to an international open innovation firm under his leadership, and through this, helps support the growth and resurgence of Africa into the modern world.”
